Together on the road to Rotterdam

On 2 October, a group of Ukrainian children who have found a new home here set off for their first international tournament, in Rotterdam. For children who have had to rebuild so much of their lives, it was a big step, and a trip many of them will remember for a long time.

Many refugee families do not have a car in Germany, and a journey like this would have been difficult to organise without help. Hongik Ingan therefore decided to rent a vehicle for the trip, so that the children could travel together and their parents did not have to worry about how to get them there. The small German flags on the roof were a cheerful sign of the travel spirit in which the group set off.
Every child deserves the chance to travel, to take part and to experience something beyond everyday life, whatever their family's background or means. Supporting that, in ways that are often quite practical, is at the heart of what we do.
